Krka National Park
The Krka National Park is located within the Sibenik - Knin County and encompasses an area of 109 square kilometers along the Krka River. The national park covers the major part of the course of this amazing river, and in addition to natural monuments it abounds with cultural and historical monuments. The most outstanding of these is the Franciscan monastery on the tiny isle of Visovac, set like a precious stone in the middle of a lake like widening in the river.
Paklenica National Park
National Park Paklenica covers the most attractive parts of Southern Velebit, located at Starigrad, not far from Zadar. It is concentrated in a mere 96 km2. Its most striking features are two forbidding gorges, Velika and Mala Paklenica, gouged into the mountain from the sea to beneath Velebit’s highest peaks. The park abounds in bizarre karstic forms, caves and other natural features, and the wide range of climatic conditions has benefited the wide diversity of flora and fauna.
Kornati Islands National Park
The Croatian Kornati archipelago is located in northern Dalmatia, in Sibenik - Knin County. With 89 islands, islets and reefs, National Park occupies the area of about 220 km2 and is the densest archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea.
Plitvice Lakes National Park
The Plitvice Lakes are by far most precious jewel and best known National park in Croatia. The main attraction of this park, unique in the world, comprises 16 small lakes mutually joined by waterfalls created by a special type of limestone. This national park encompasses the source of the River Korana, located in an area surrounded by dense forests of beech, fir and spruce. There are also several caves in the park, as well as springs, flowering meadows, and among a number of preserved animal species which stands out is the brown bear.
